This month, Property Skipper interviewed Rego Sotheby’s International Realty property manager  Ziria Noriega Steinhoff for their ‘Meet the Agent’ feature. Ziria discussed some of her favourite rental listings on the market right now, some excellent tips when looking for a potential new rental and why she enjoys working at Rego Sotheby’s International Realty.

How long have you been a real estate agent? I have been a real estate agent since June of 2016 working in the busy rental department at Rego Sotheby’s International Realty.

Why do you like working for Rego Sotheby’s International Realty? Being new to the industry I am grateful this environment is so welcoming and I get the opportunity to spend my day with intelligent people who are willing to share their knowledge along with a joke or two to keep it light.

What is the favorite part of your job? I enjoy problem solving.  Most times the situation is simple and straightforward, an AC unit has stopped working and I call an AC technician to fix it but sometimes, it is not that simple and critical thinking and problem solving is required.

What is your favorite property on the market right now? ‘In the Lee’ is my favorite!  It is the cutest Bermuda cottage with water access and lovely gardens. The kitchen has been completely renovated and the living space has exposed beams. Every time I am onsite I get the feeling of home.

What property on the market right now, in your opinion, do you think is really good value? The Breakers Unit 13 has amazing value. It is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom with open layout living room/dining room.  It has a very spacious patio with breathtaking views of the South Shore and access to a private beach.

How do you see the Bermuda rental market over the next 12 months?

I believe 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom standalone homes centrally located will continue to be highly sought after. With the 2017 America’s Cup having already increased our rental business activity, I anticipate that the growing excitement and positivity in Bermuda will have a continued positive impact on real estate as well.

What are your top 3 tips when looking a potential new rental?

1) Be patient!

2) Prioritize your non-negotiable factors such as the number of bathrooms or the location.

3) Ask yourself if you can live in the rental for a couple of years as opposed to just one, because does anyone really like moving?
