Two budding young Bermudians completed what was yet another effective Summer Internship Program today at Bermuda’s oldest and most experienced real estate company, Rego Sotheby’s International Realty. Upcoming Berkeley Institute seniors Torri Wilson and Jared Lawrence thrived during the 8 week program learning the many facets of the real estate industry that they previously were unaware of.

Working and rotating with the Rego Sotheby’s International Realty team primarily in the Marketing, Commercial, and Rental Departments, the interns also gained invaluable experience with our Administration Team as well as those in Professional Services. For Torri, a hopeful for The Rotary Youth Exchange Program who is considering becoming an underwriter in insurance, real estate provided a whirlwind of surprises. “Every day was different; you were always busy or on the move. Within my eight weeks here, I saw the most beautiful properties – whether it was commercial or residential, I met some amazing people, and learnt a lot on the way. Within this career there is a set terminology to use and everything is confidential. There is an infectious constructive atmosphere here, where everyone is upbeat and willing to help with anything!”

The interns were mentored by the various Rental, Commercial, Residential, Marketing, Professional Services, and Administration Team managers and associates. The program coordinators were Ben Rego and Danielle Spurling of the Marketing and Commercial Departments, respectfully. To them, this experience was equally as rewarding. “We take our Summer Internship Program seriously and were proud to have our entire company involved in order to really make this a memorable experience for Torri and Jared,” Mr. Rego said. “The success of the program did not hinge on simply teaching them about the intricacies of the real estate industry. We wanted them to be able to spread their wings, step out of their comfort zones, and be invested in how a company operates in a professional setting.” Mrs. server information . Spurling then went on to comment, “The tools they have learned and the connections they have made here will hopefully benefit them for the rest of their lives. Whether or not they ultimately take on a challenging career in real estate, these two certainly have what it takes to succeed in any industry.”

Jared, an aspiring forensic accountant, concluded by noting that “I never thought the real estate industry was this complex until I joined this team and had a first real glimpse as a real estate intern. From day one I felt as if I was a part of the Rego Sotheby’s International Realty family. I knew I was getting the rare experience that most kids do not get at my age. I thank the people at this company and what they have given back. They can make a huge impact on the way kids my age look at their island and start to appreciate their Bermuda home like I now do.”
